Ode to Pollock

"Every good artist paints what he is." J.Pollock

This is my tribute to one of my favourite painters; Jackson Pollock. I have always been fascinated by the power of those splashes of colour. For the making of this huge piece I tried to be as faithful as possible; I had the canvas lying on the floor and I left the colour dribbling from my brush..it was an explosion of colours..exactly what I like!

"I put my heart and my soul into my work, and have lost myself in the process." Van Gogh

"Clouds came floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset." R. Tagore

"What would the world be without color? A dull, joyless mélange of shapes without vital meaning…" Itten Johannes

Getting Cubist..

This was my first approach to pastels.

I just fell in love with them! I loved to play with them and to get coloured powder all over me!

Dreaming of Sicily

Where thou art - that - is Home. ~Emily Dickinson

This series of paintings has been inspired by my homeland: SICILY.

I left Sicily 3 years ago; I used to hate that place and the mentality of people, I just wanted to leave everything behind and start a new life...I never understood, instead, how captivated I am by that place..those colours, those sunsets, those scents...I suppose it's true that we appreciate things when we lose them...emotions, more than in any other paintings, guided me in the realization of this series, I have never felt so inspired before...I tried my best to capture that timeless beauty but my paintings don't do justice to it, just who has been there knows what I am talking about...anyway, this is my tribute to Sicily...
